Minnesota State Fair food and beverage sales topped $50 million over a 12-day run, the Minneapolis Star-Tribune reported yesterday.

According to average attendance, the fair is “the single largest attraction in the English-speaking world,” said fair general manager Jerry Hammer.

Total revenue for the fair is expected to exceed $250 million. That’s almost the entire annual revenue generated by the Minnesota Vikings in 2014 and half the annual revenue of Sun Country Airlines, reports columnist Neil St. Anthony.

Food is the biggest sales driver of the fair, which is famous for deep-fried butter and mini-donut beer. Among other things, fair-goers consumed 55,000 lbs of Mouth Trap cheese curds.
