SUMMARY:Nutrition & Brain Function with Nancy Poznak\, MS\, CHES\, Founder of BotaniCuisine
DESCRIPTION:NUTRITION BASICS\nA brief overview.\n \nSUBSTANCES THAT HELP AND SUBSTANCES THAT HURT OUR BRAIN\nSpecific substances in foods\, such as phytonutrients\, are beneficial. Some beneficial substances can be harmful if too much is ingested\, and other substances hurt our brain. There are nutrients associated with memory preservation and other with memory loss. \nNUTRIGENOMICS\nHow foods change gene expression throughout our life. Nutrition\, more than genetics\, can determine much of our physical health \nGUT HEALTH: FOOD AND MOOD\nThe digestive tract is a world of its own. Gut health affects clarity and significantly contributes to our well-being. \nPROTEIN\nWhat are “essential” proteins? How can we get enough? What’s ‘quality protein’ and why is that important? What proteins do and why they are important for our brain. \nGotta LOVE it!  What’s for Breakfast\, Lunch\, and Dinner?\nThis may surprise you. How to create optimal nutrition at meals\, and enjoy them too. It’s vital to ENJOY food and eat healthy. \nRegister here.

SUMMARY:Upcycled Food: Trend or Transformation?
DESCRIPTION:Whole Foods declared Upcycling one of the top food trends to watch in 2021 and 60% of consumers say they want to see more upcycled products on shelves (MATTSON). \nBut is the food & beverage industry ready to meet this growing demand? \nHow can we scale what remains a very niche category? \nAnd what is upcycling anyway? \nThese are some of the questions that will be addressed in a frank and authentic way by the leaders of four food companies in this unique and practical webinar on November 23rd\, held as part of North America’s first ever Upcycled Food Fest. \nYou’ll hear from companies who have all adopted upcycling as part of their business and came together to launch the first ever Upcycled Meal Kit. They’ll share with you the challenges\, the learnings\, the highs and the lows and ultimately whether they would do it again. \nAnd given that consumers are associating greater environmental benefit with the word “upcycled” than the word “organic” (Drexel study 2017)\, they will also address the opportunity – what it means for them\, what it can mean for your business and whether it is just a trend or a real transformation in the industry. \nThis is the closest you will get to a “how to” of upcycling\, so don’t miss it. \nRegister now – places are strictly limited. \nRegister here.

SUMMARY:Low-Pass WGS: Revolutionizing Genome-Wide Association Studies
DESCRIPTION:The usage of Genome-Wide Association Studies (GWAS) continues to grow in the discovery and development of disease models; however\, they are often restricted to interrogation within predefined European ancestry populations. With the continued development of scalable and cost-effective technologies like low-pass whole genome sequencing (LP-WGS)\, however\, this flaw has been addressed by enabling inexpensive genome-wide variant data generation without pre-defined population limitations. \nIn this webinar\, Dr. Louie will first review the science behind LP-WGS technology\, which uses computation methods\, such as imputation\, and discuss advantages and considerations of LP-WGS when compared to traditional genotyping arrays and other whole genome or targeted approaches. Jeremy Li will then review the main results from Gencove’s recently-published paper in Genome Research comparing the performance of LP-WGS to that of commonly-used genotyping arrays in the context of GWAS and polygenic risk scores. Iris Kalka will conclude the webinar by discussing her current work at the Weizmann Institute of Science constructing a cohort consisting of 10\,000 healthy individuals\, all of whom are deeply phenotyped and genotyped using LP-WGS\, in the hopes to unravel novel early disease markers with the potential of becoming drug targets. \nRegister here.

SUMMARY:How Will Big Data and AI Change Poultry Growing?
DESCRIPTION:Relatively inexpensive sensors\, widespread use of IoT technologies\, cloud computing\, AI and machine learning are making it possible to gather and analyze data from all the poultry houses in a complex. But how will poultry growers and integrated companies use this data improve their operations\, bird welfare and the overall sustainability of the industry? How will this data and these systems change the way birds are raised? SUMMARY:An Intro to OEE: The Pulse of Your Plant’s Health
DESCRIPTION:OEE (Overall Equipment Effectiveness)\, is *not* just about your machines or downtime improvements\, it’s a holistic indicator of your plant’s health\, efficiency\, and productivity. \nOEE can be a blunt indicator that something in your plant is not quite right or it can be a precision tool that isolates bottlenecks and identifies root causes of production problems. Plant and Operations managers use OEE to benchmark and compare performance across plants\, lines\, shifts\, or SKUs. As an aid in CI efforts\, OEE illuminates which improvements are likely to be most fruitful. And\, even the smallest gains (1-2%) in OEE can add up to tens or hundreds of thousands of dollars in cost savings. \nIf you’re not already calculating OEE\, what’s the easiest way to get started? \nIn this webinar with live Q&A\, Robert Mirrielees\, APICS instructor (CPIM\, CSCP\, CLTD) and Principal of North American Operations Consulting\, discusses the benefits of OEE and outlines how to get started calculating it with resources at hand – and why every facility should pay close attention to this “best practices” KPI. \nRegister here.
