Following two years of growth, sales of plant-based meat products have slowed, Food Business News reported. IRI’s SVP for protein practice, Chris DuBois, told the news outlet that the deceleration may be due to the fact that plant-based meats aren’t viewed as clean label, questions around their sustainability, and the number of companies in the market. Currently, plant-based meats make up only 1.5% of all meat sales, and DuBois expects they won’t reach more than 2%.
