This week’s roundup of new food products includes coconut-based desserts, upcycled snacks, and plant-based meat alternatives.

Uglies Kettle Chips: Sweet Potato Chips

Uglies Kettle Chips recently expanded its product line with the addition of Uglies Sweets, upcycled sweet potato chips.

The chips are made with imperfect sweet potatoes, kettle-cooked in small batches, and lightly salted. They’re an excellent source of Vitamin A and are gluten free, Non-GMO Project verified, kosher certified, vegan friendly, and produced in a nut-free facility.

To start, Uglies Sweets will be available at select Sam’s Clubs locations in 15 oz bags. Smaller 1.5 and 5.5 oz bags will roll out at select retailers later in the month.

Kellogg Company: Rice Krispies Treats HOMESTYLE Cinnamon Sugar

Kellogg Company recently introduced the newest variety of Rice Krispies Treats — HOMESTYLE Cinnamon Sugar. 

Featuring cinnamon sugar and extra marshmallows, this is the latest product to join the HOMESTYLE lineup, which is inspired by marshmallow-based homemade recipes.

HOMESTYLE Cinnamon Sugar bars are available in nationwide grocery stores, with a suggested price of $3.99 per six-bar box and $5.24 per 12-bar box.

Bon Dévil: Plant-Based Ganache

Targeting flexitarian and vegan consumers, Bon Dévil released four flavors of plant-based ganache desserts — Chocolate, Vanilla, Caramelized Banana, and Salted Caramel Chocolate. 

Each coconut-based ganache cup contains less than 120 calories. All varieties are vegan certified, gluten-free, dairy-free, and kosher. 

Packs of four 1.6 oz cups are available at Wegmans, Fresh Thyme, Meijer, and more.

Gardein: Ultimate Plant-based Line

Gardein, a brand of Conagra Brands, Inc., will be adding seven new products to its Ultimate Plant-Based line — Chick’n Wings (in Buffalo and BBQ style), Chick’n Spicy Fillets, Saus’ge Links (in Bratwurst and Spicy Italian), and Breakfast Saus’ge (in Original and Spicy patties). 

The new products offer a variety of plant-based meat alternatives for vegetarians, vegans and flexitarians to enjoy. Starting in June, the Ultimate Plant-Based line will be available at grocery stores, mass retailers, and through e-commerce.

Covico: New Coconut Products

Four new coconut-based ingredient products — coconut cheese, coconut chips, coconut salsa, and coconut BBQ sauce — will soon be joining Covico’s product line.

All new products are vegan, organic, gluten-free, and made from sustainably-grown coconuts. They will debut at the National Restaurant Association Show in Chicago May 21-24, 2022, after which they’ll be available for wholesale purchase.
