PepsiCo, Inc. announced today a 2025 global sustainability agenda, “designed to foster continued business growth in a way that responds to changing consumer and societal needs.”
This announcement comes on the heels of a Reuters report of confidential negotiations between PepsiCo and KeVita to acquire the sparkling probiotic drink brand.
Pepsi’s move to acquire KeVita, in which they already hold a minority stake, seems in keeping with at least two of the company’s stated 2025 goals:
- At least two-thirds of its global beverage portfolio volume will have 100 calories or fewer from added sugars per 12-oz serving.
- The rate of sales growth of what the company refers to as Everyday Nutrition products will outpace the rate of sales growth in the balance of PepsiCo’s portfolio. Everyday Nutrition products include those that deliver whole grains, fruits and vegetables, dairy, protein, and hydration.
