PepsiCo announced a new goal of helping 50 million people gain access to nutritious foods by 2030 as part of the global expansion of their Food for Good program. The commitment addresses an urgent need as it is estimated that more than 40% of the world’s population can’t afford a healthy diet, and about 800 million people worldwide suffer from hunger.

This initiative is part of the PepsiCo Positive (pep+) program, a sustainability program that commits to creating growth and value with sustainability at the core. PepsiCo also pledged $100 million in positive agriculture and food security initiatives by 2030 in support of the Zero Hunger Private Sector Pledge. New investments for the Food for Good program include:

PepsiCo will bring all regional nutrition-related programs under Food for Good to take advantage of their global capabilities and reach their new food accessibility goal.

Jon Banner, Executive Vice President, PepsiCo Global Communications and President, The PepsiCo Foundation, commented: “As a leading global food and beverage company, we have a critical role to play in realizing a more equitable global food system to ensure the communities we serve are free from hunger and malnutrition.”
