The Live Green Co Welcomes Former White House and Chipotle Food Safety Expert to Board

Dr. James Marsden counts more than forty years of experience in the food industry with a strong background working with government officials, regulators, food companies, trade associations and academia.

Oct, 2021, Santiago, Chile – The Live Green Co., the Chilean-origin food tech company that helps manufacturers replace animal, artificial and ultra-processed ingredients with natural plant alternatives, today announced the establishment of an expert international-standard advisory board and that Dr James Marsden would be joining it.

Described by The Meat Industry Hall of Fame as “the smartest guy in the room”, Dr Marsden brings decades of expertise to The Live Green Co, having authored hundreds of publications covering biosecurity, food safety, public health, processed meat technology, and quality management.

The Live Green Co uses ancestral wisdoms, biotech and machine learning to find 100% natural replacements to the animal, artificial and ultra-processed ingredients and additives in food products.

“I am committed to the Live Green Co’s mission of safe, sustainable and natural food,” Dr Marsden said.

Dr Marsden has advised the White House on food safety and nutrition, and testified on numerous occasions to the United States Congress, the US Food and Drug Administration (FDA), and the US Department of Agriculture (USDA). He served as an official adviser to the USDA during the development of the Hazard Analysis and Critical Control Point (HACCP) Food Safety Regulation and on issues relating to Food Imports and Transportation.

Moreover, Dr Marsen’s work in understanding E.coli O157:H7, Salmonella, Listeria Monocytogenes and Norovirus bacteria spreads led to innovations in food safety. Dr Marsden had joined Chipotle in 2016 as their Executive Director of Food Safety, to direct food safety programs at Chipotle Mexican Grill, Shop House Restaurants and Pizzeria Locale.
