MGS unveils MatriX SL™ side-load case packer with 3-in-1 case capability at PACK EXPO Las Vegas

Maple Grove, Minn., USA – August 20, 2025 – MGS, a Coesia company, will introduce the new MatriX SL™ side-load case packer at PACK EXPO Las Vegas, September 29 to October 1, 2025 (Las Vegas Convention Center, West Hall Booth W-1064).

Designed for mid- to high-speed production, the cost-effective machine packs regular slotted containers (RSC), wrap-around cases, and trays on a single platform, providing manufacturers with space-saving flexibility across food, pharma, personal care, and home care lines.

“Our customers aim to maximize margins and floor space. They need equipment that can hit their volume targets while remaining flexible. Because the MatriX SL combines three separate case-packing functions into a single machine, they free up valuable floor space, reduce both capital and operating costs, and keep their lines agile for tomorrow’s SKUs,” says Timothy Bushaw, General Manager at MGS.

Key capabilities

  • Versatile formats, high output: With multiple infeed designs and 3-in-1 case functionality, MatriX SL™ handles cartons, bottles, pouches, cups, flow-wraps, and rigid containers, managing various configurations for efficient product flow.
  • Dynamic case handling: A Beckhoff XTS linear transport system delivers adaptive case control over a broad size and weight range.
  • Adaptive gluing: Travelling or stationary glue modules selected per case style for optimal use and uptime.
  • Rapid changeovers: The Coesia Digital OptiMate HMI helps accelerate tool-free changeovers in less than 10 minutes
  • Compact footprint: 16.4 ft × 4 ft including case magazine; the center-justified design simplifies integration and operator access.
  • Pharma-compliant and retail-ready: Fully GAMP-compliant to satisfy stringent pharmaceutical regulations while delivering shelf-ready formats optimized for fast-moving consumer goods.

“MatriX SL gives cost-conscious manufacturers future-proof flexibility without adding square footage,” says Pam Holien, Product Line Manager at MGS. “The combination of 3-in-1 case styles, quick changeovers, and a proven mechanical platform helps customers respond quickly to shifting market demands while protecting throughput.”

Integration across Coesia lines

MatriX SL™ builds on the MatriX™ case-packer family launched in 2010 and now adds higher speeds, wider size ranges, and broader product capability. Its modular architecture allows seamless connection with upstream equipment from Coesia companies, such as cartoners from R.A Jones, tube fillers from NORDEN, or pouch machines from VOLPAK, backed by the Coesia Integration Team for single-source project management and validated line performance.

Digital & Service offering

At PACK EXPO, the case packer will be shown with Coesia’s digital suite: OptiMate for intuitive operation, real-time diagnostics and guided maintenance, plus cloud-ready monitoring and predictive service that help maximize OEE and lower total cost of ownership. Coesia experts will also cover lifecycle services such as remote support, spare parts optimization, and training programs.
