WASHINGTON, Jan. 5, 2017 – 4G Meat Processing LLC., a Kansas City, Mo. establishment, is recalling approximately 1,288 pounds of pork and turkey Caldarello Italian Sausage rope products due to misbranding, the U.S. Department of Agriculture’s Food Safety and Inspection Service (FSIS) announced today. The products contain Monosodium Glutamate (MSG), which is not declared on the product label. Additionally, the finished product label does not contain an ingredients statement or safe handling instructions.

The pork and turkey Caldarello Italian Sausage products were produced on various dates from June 28, 2016, to Dec. 20, 2016. The following products are subject to recall: [View Labels (PDF Only)]

The products subject to recall bear establishment number “EST. 7147” inside the USDA mark of inspection. These items were shipped to a distributor and retail locations in Missouri.

The problem was discovered on January 3, 2017, when State of Missouri Department of Agriculture Compliance Investigators found the sausage products in a retail case and the products were missing ingredients statements and safe handling instructions on the individual cryovac packages. The master case was properly labeled with ingredient and safe handling labels.

There have been no confirmed reports of adverse reactions due to consumption of these products. Anyone concerned about an injury or illness should contact a healthcare provider.
