Bright People Foods Rolls Out New Solar Power Initiative

California business announces its new solar power initiative in its ongoing commitment to addressing climate change and being part of the solution to reduce carbon emissions

WOODLAND, CA – March 2021 – Today, Bright People Foods, a family-owned business dedicated to making wholesome natural foods, announces the roll out of its new solar power initiative in its ongoing commitment to addressing climate change and being part of the solution to reduce carbon emissions. With one of the largest single rooftop solar systems in Northern California, Bright People Foods’ solar project is expected to displace over 1 million (1,097,400) pounds of CO2 emissions per year (according to data from PG&E).

Bright People Foods is committed to climate innovation and forward-thinking projects. This is why, for years, they have made their own steamed organic noodles in-house from scratch and why they don’t use palm oil in their products. Now, Bright People Foods is making a bold investment in renewable energy in order to continue to address climate change and become a low carbon manufacturer.

“Everything we do is in line with our motto, ‘Sustaining The Earth, Sustaining You,’ this is how we run our company,” said Mike Vinnicombe, CEO of Bright People Foods. “Our goal is to have the lowest footprint possible as we grow in a conscious way.”

Bright People Foods’ estimates that they’ll be producing more solar power than they’ll be consuming on a monthly basis. Their 1.35MW system is expected to produce over 2 million kWh (kilowatt-hours) every year (estimate from the National Renewable Energy Lab PV Watts calculator). This is equivalent to producing enough green energy to power more than 1700 average California households at peak output (data from PG&E). This was a 2-year project from inception to completion and Bright People Foods worked closely with PG&E and the City of Woodland to optimize the design, maximize the amount of solar production and minimize their environmental impact.

“This solar project was a big commitment for our company to improve the environment in a small way,” said Vinnicombe. “We’re proud to be doing our part and to be making a long-term commitment to sustainability.”
