MBOLD Managing Director Named to Protein Highway Board of Directors

JoAnne Berkenkamp to collaborate with U.S. and Canadian stakeholders on plant protein innovation

Minneapolis, January 26, 2022 — MBOLD, a Minnesota-based coalition accelerating solutions to the most pressing challenges facing food and agriculture, announced today that its Managing Director, JoAnne Berkenkamp, has been named to the Protein Highway board of directors.

“Plant proteins are key to the future of our food system and our environment,” Berkenkamp said. “As the global population grows toward 10 billion people by 2050, plant proteins are vitally important for meeting growing demand for healthy proteins within planetary boundaries. I’m delighted to join Protein Highway and help drive innovation in the plant protein industry with collaborators in the U.S. and Canda.”

Protein Highway is dedicated to enhancing cross-border collaboration in the plant protein industry among businesses and researchers across the Canadian Prairies and U.S. Midwest-Great Plains region. Its mission is to support and facilitate bilateral, precompetitive initiatives that unite industry, academia and government in advancing the North American plant protein sector.

Berkenkamp will work together with Protein Highway collaborators to help advance the plant protein industry in the U.S. and Canada through development of value-added plant proteins for domestic and international markets.
