This week’s FIE Input Cost Index is live. The index declined for the second consecutive week.

Ocean freight drove most of the move. The Freightos Baltic Index fell 5%, its second straight weekly decline after reaching multi-month highs in mid-July. The Freight component moved lower with it.

Grain prices pulled back after last week’s wheat spike. Boxed beef dropped for the third week running. The index remains in High Pressure territory.

July ISM Prices Paid releases Monday, August 3. June came in at 73.0, the largest single-month drop in four years. That reading feeds directly into the Input component, so it’s the number most likely to move the index when we update next Tuesday.
