Following the synergistic success of its Hillshire Farms acquisition two years ago, Tyson CEO Donnie Smith says the company is poised for “another transformational acquisition.”

Smith applies a few basic filters when considering brands, whether for small add-ons or major mergers. Demand for high-protein snack choices has already prompted Tyson’s expansion of the popular Hillshire Snacking line. The company’s innovation strategy also includes planting stakes in meal-kit delivery and moving its brands into adjacent retail categories.
