Seafood Expo North America/Seafood Processing North America Welcomed An Estimated 20,000 Seafood Professionals during its 43rd Edition

This year’s event spanned 249,665 net square feet of exhibit space with 1,215 exhibiting companies from 51 countries.

Portland, ME, April 1, 2025 – Seafood Expo North America/Seafood Processing North America, produced by Diversified, announced an estimated 20,000 seafood industry professionals from around the world convened for the 43rd edition of North America’s largest seafood trade event in Boston on March 16-18, 2025.

This year’s event spanned 249,665 net square feet of exhibit space with 1,215 exhibiting companies from 51 countries. Seafood Processing North America showcased market-leading processing and packaging equipment companies, along with logistics services and other service providers. Seafood Expo North America featured seafood companies offering a variety of fresh, frozen, canned, value-added, processed, and packaged seafood products. Seafood buyers from across the North American market from restaurants, supermarkets, e-commerce, warehouse clubs, catering firms, hotels/airlines/cruises, distribution and more were present to discover the latest products offerings and build strategic relationships. High-volume seafood buyers included Aldi, Amazon Fresh, Costco, Disney, Kroger, Wakefern, Walmart, Whole Foods Market, Publix, Sam’s Club, Shamrock Foods, Sodexo, Sysco, US Foods and more.

“This year’s event growth was evident on-site with lots of energy and engagement in both the exhibit hall and the conference area,” said Wynter Courmont, Vice President, Seafood at Diversified. “Seafood companies, processing equipment, packaging and services companies and buyers all welcomed the opportunity to meet face to face and learn about new products and innovations, achieve their business goals and discuss their unique challenges and opportunities for growth.”

“Having a presence at the event helps us reinforce and establish our brand in the marketplace and connect us with both prospective customers and suppliers,” said Daryl Gormley, CEO of Aquamar. “To replicate this, I would have to be traveling with my team all over North America and Central America and instead, we have an opportunity over a few days to have a ton of concentrated interactions that create potential value for us.”

Attendees were able to learn about new products through the New and Featured product showcases, the Seafood Excellence Awards reception and a variety of product demonstrations and seafood tastings. The Wave Makers’ Zone also hosted the Connecting Women in Seafood reception and networking event, the Oyster Shucking Competition and podcast recordings with SeafoodSource Presents.

Two products were honored as winners of the annual Seafood Excellence Awards, recognizing and celebrating the best new seafood products in the North American market. Icy Waters, LLC won the “Best New Retail Product” award for its Atlantic Salmon with a Guinness Sweet Honey Mustard Melt & Panko Crumb and American Unagi Inc. won the “Best New Foodservice Product” award for its Gluten Free Eel Kabayaki Fillet. This year’s judges represented seafood buyers and industry experts from the retail and foodservice industries. To determine the winners among the 11 finalists, the products were judged based on several criteria, including uniqueness and appropriateness to the market, taste profile, market potential, convenience, nutritional value and originality.

In addition to the exhibit hall and special events, Nomi Prins, PhD, macro-economist, geopolitical financial expert and best-selling author addressed the seafood industry in a tailored discussion titled, “Riding the Waves: Navigating Economic, Energy, and Trade Policies Impacting the Seafood Industry in 2025.” Prins provided an economic outlook for the seafood industry around tariff policies and assured the industry that once the uncertainty around tariffs subsides, the seafood industry can expect growth.

A robust conference program offered attendees educational sessions from top industry leaders around topics such as seafood consumption and consumer trends, policy trends and regulatory issues, AI, labor rights, marine plastics and more. Highlights from the conference program included panels that discussed data around why consumers are shopping for seafood, what their preferences are, how behaviors have changed and trends towards eating and dining out. Another panel between seafood entrepreneurs discussed the economic advantages of diversifying seafood product offerings and having a diverse workforce.

Next year’s event will take place March 15-17, 2026, at the Boston Convention & Exhibition Center. For more information on Seafood Expo North America/Seafood Processing North America, visit www.seafoodexpo.com/north-america.
