According to several media reports, President-elect Donald Trump is considering former USDA top food safety official Elsa Murano for the position of Agriculture Secretary.
Murano served as the Undersecretary of Agriculture for Food Safety under former President George W. Bush. Following that, she spent 17 months as president of Texas A&M University before stepping down to join the school’s Department of Nutrition and Food Science, where she still teaches.
She’s also a member of the Board of Directors at multinational food company Hormel Foods.
