McCain Foods today announced an expansion of its recall of frozen hash browns that may contain golf ball materials, which could pose injury or choking hazards.
The initial recall, issued last Friday, was for 2-pound bags of Roundy’s Brand Frozen Southern Style Hash Browns and Harris Teeter Brand Frozen Southern Style Hash Browns distributed in nine states. The new recall covers one lot of Wegman’s Brand Frozen O’Brien Hash Browns.
The company said that the golf balls were “inadvertently harvested with the potatoes,” though they didn’t say exactly how that could have happened.
If you have any of these products in your freezer, you’re best to get rid of them. If you accidentally eat them and chomp down on a piece of golf ball, well, at least it’s not a bat!
