A Mintel report released earlier this year shows 80% of consumers agree that reducing food waste is as important as reducing packaging waste.
Transparent, resealable, and portion-controlled packaging top the average food shopper’s list, with over half (54%) of those surveyed  willing to pay extra for one or more of those features.
Only two in five (42%) consumers report recycling most of the food packaging they use, but 25% of them agree that packaging could be more clear about what’s recyclable and what’s not.
As consumer trends continue toward snacking and on-the-go meals, over half of shoppers (54%) look for portions and packaging that will keep perishable food fresher, longer.
