Superbrewed Food Addresses How Companies Can Overcome Scaling and Commercialization Challenges With Alternative Proteins

Executives to Speak at the Fermentation-Enabled Protein Summit

NEW CASTLE, Del., JAN. 19, 2023 –Achieving a cost-effective scale-up, a successful commercial launch, and product quality and regulatory compliance is top of the agenda for the Food and Beverage industry as it strives to meet growing customer demand for alternative proteins. Superbrewed Food will join leaders in the alternative protein space at the 3rd Annual Fermentation-Enabled Alternative Protein Summit to discuss how to scale and commercialize successfully.

Superbrewed Food uses traditional anaerobic fermentation and proprietary microflora found in nature to convert plant starches into a nutrient-rich protein.  At the conference, executives will share their journey as to how they overcame the technical, commercial and scale-up challenges to produce the first ever postbiotic protein ingredient that recently achieved self-affirmed GRAS (generally recognized as safe) status.

Superbrewed Food’s Postbiotic Protein ingredient contains 85% protein that includes all nine essential amino acids and more branched-chain and essential amino acids than plant- based proteins. As a postbiotic, it also delivers abundant natural nutrition beyond protein, such as a “good” to “excellent” (per FDA guidelines) serving of vitamin B-12, four additional B-vitamins and six essential minerals in a 20-gram serving. In addition, the Superbrewed Food process produces a co-product intrinsic to human health, butyric acid.

Dr. Bryan Tracy, CEO and co-founder of Superbrewed Foods, will chair day two of the event, co-lead a workshop on regulations and labeling, and participate in a panel dedicated to the topic of fermentation waste. Throughout the event, he will demonstrate how fermented alternative proteins can deliver new standards of nutritional value.

Julie Post-Smith, chief of commercial development at Superbrewed Food, will also speak at the conference about the value proposition of alternative proteins for consumers.  She will touch on the importance of understanding the needs and motives of consumers in terms of sustainability, nutrition, taste and ethical concerns that make non-animal proteins so promising for the future of food development.
