Following a midyear drop from 2014’s record numbers, USDA trade and market statistics compiled by NAMI (North American Meat Institute) show an overall decline for meat exports in both value and volume in 2015.

Greatest gains by volume included beef to Korea (up 7%), pork to the Dominican Republic (up 37%), and poultry and poultry variety meats to Vietnam (up 33%). Value gains in these countries were notably low when compared with losses in value from declining export volumes elsewhere.

Lamb showed exponential growth by volume in several countries, but NAMI notes this may be due to problems in the reporting process, such as misclassification of product, especially at small volumes.
